Meurthe-et-Moselle. Decarbonizing Industry: How Major Local Industries Are Reducing Their Emissions

Following in the footsteps of the Saint-Gobain group, which has defined a vast plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the flagship of ductile iron water network pipes Saint-Gobain PAM has activated numerous levers to decarbonize its activities.
"Our roadmap will enable us to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions by more than 80% between 2017 and 2028," explains Jérôme Lionet, CEO of the Lorraine flagship. The majority of this reduction lies, and will continue to lie, in the transformation of its industrial processes.
At Saint-Gobain PAM, these are three steps toward decarbonizing melting. The first of these three steps was the installation of the Thor furnace at the Pont-à-Mousson site in 2023.
At the Foug plant, the cupola furnace is being replaced by another electric furnace, Vulcain, whose first casting should arrive in the coming days.
