Mulhouse: Residents of a building file a complaint after six months without an elevator

Residents of a ten-story building in Mulhouse have been without an elevator for over five months. Exasperated by the constant trips up and down the stairs, they say they have filed a complaint.
This ten-story condominium in Mulhouse has become a nightmare for its residents, who have been without an elevator for five months. For groceries, "we don't take much, just what we need on a daily basis," says a 71-year-old resident who has to go up and down six floors every day. It's a chore that forces her to avoid going out.
A dozen residents say they have filed a complaint for "deliberate endangerment" and "abuse of power and trust" against Citya, the condominium association, and the company responsible for elevator maintenance.
So far, residents say they have received no clear explanation from Citya. "We suggested to the members of the joint council that we call a special meeting, which would have allowed us to avoid delays. They refused twice," Citya defends itself. The joint council claims that the work will begin in September and will cost the building's owners a total of 80,000 euros.
