Petition against the Duplomb law: more than one million signatures have been collected

A petition launched by a 23-year-old student against the Duplomb Law reached one million signatures on Sunday, July 20. It denounces the Duplomb Law's harmful effects on the environment and health.
On Sunday, July 20, it was unprecedented: the petition against the Duplomb law reached one million signatures, particularly against the reintroduction of acetamiprid, a highly controversial pesticide. This angered Laurent Dartois, a pig farmer in Côtes-d'Armor.
He believes that the French are not knowledgeable enough on the subject. "If someone asks me, there is a hospital closing tomorrow, I am not going to comment, I am not going to sign because I am not qualified to know the ins and outs of that. And today, unfortunately, many French people have opinions on everything and do not know the subject," he says.
However, several studies point to risks of toxicity in humans. His argument is economic: there is no question of banning the substance in France as long as other countries are using it.
