The future head of the public company was questioned this Wednesday morning by Parliament. He promised a quote and a timetable for the six EPR 2 reactors "by the end of the year."
Barely six weeks after the Élysée Palace announced Luc Rémont 's dismissal as head of EDF, his succession is taking shape. Bernard Fontana was heard by Parliament this Wednesday morning, in accordance with Article 13 of the Constitution. A first hearing took place at 8 a.m. in the Senate, the second at 11 a.m. in the National Assembly. This obligatory appearance before the economic affairs committees of both chambers is generally a mere formality for prospective candidates for the presidency of EDF . Two-thirds of voters would have had to vote against the candidate for confirmation. This was not the case. Bernard Fontana received 55 votes in favor and 40 votes against.
The EDF general meeting, scheduled for May 5, will be a simple obligatory step. Bernard Fontana is expected to take office the following day. His arrival is awaited with a mixture of bitterness—Luc Rémont was a popular CEO—impatience, and concern.
