Serrières-de-Briord. Traffic will be closed on the RD32 at the start of the school year to secure the cliffs.

Driving on the RD32 between Bénonces and Serrières-de-Briord will no longer be possible between September 1st and November 14th. Users, particularly residents of Ordonnaz and Bénonces, will have to use the bypass set up by Seillonnaz and Montagnieu. The closure of the road to traffic for two and a half months is made necessary by the major construction site underway to secure the cliffs. The municipality has undertaken major operations to protect the village from rockfalls. Many homes and roads are at risk, including the RD32. Rockfalls of varying sizes are a regular occurrence on the road.
The first phase of work is now underway on the Chateland cliff. The walls will be blasted with explosives. The work schedule for these specific weeks is tied to respect for the area's ecological heritage. The work schedule must respect the breeding, flight, and hibernation cycles of various protected species: 26 species of bats and numerous birds—including a breeding pair of eagle owls—inhabit the cliffs. The safety work will resume during authorized time slots in 2026 and 2027, with two optional phases for 2027 and 2029. The cost of the work is estimated at €2.4 million excluding tax, with a €1.2 million state subsidy (Major Natural Risk Prevention Fund) and one from the Ain Department.
