Valais continues to attract businesses from other cantons. CRIF calculated the changes in address of company names within Switzerland last year. Since 2021, Valais has recorded the highest net inflow of companies (difference between arrivals and departures) in its territory. In 2024, the positive balance is 88 companies.

In this ranking, Valais is followed by the cantons of Appenzell Ausserrhoden (65) and Fribourg (39). Valais mainly attracted companies from the cantons of Vaud (101) and Geneva (83). In the canton of Fribourg, companies came mainly from the cantons of Vaud, Bern and Geneva.

The largest net emigration was recorded in the canton of Zurich, which lost 133 companies. Other cantons with high net emigration were Vaud (-87), Lucerne (-61), and Bern (-46). Companies from the canton of Vaud relocated to the cantons of Geneva, Valais, and Fribourg.

In 2024, 37,816 companies relocated their domicile within Switzerland. Just over 80% of all changes of domicile took place within the same canton, and 7,470 companies relocated to another canton.
