Damelevières. A walk of hope for Fred Juppont and all patients waiting for bone marrow donations.

The initiative of Frederic Juppont's wife, who is awaiting a bone marrow transplant, as reported in our July 29 edition, was relayed by the municipalities of Blainville and Damelevières, by social networks and by various associations, notably the local Vosges Club. More than two hundred people participated in this parade organized over approximately seven kilometers. Starting from the Haut des Places in Blainville, the procession stopped its march at the Damelevières leisure zone where the marchers were able to quench their thirst and taste brioches offered by the Georges et Weber bakery, a partner in this solidarity operation.
Many young people, aware of this problem, were present at the meeting. Antoine, 25, currently a supervisor at a middle school, explained: "Fred's case really touched me, and beyond that, the situation of all these people waiting for this transplant, which is essential to stay alive." He was unable to participate in this march because, unfortunately, his health required additional chemotherapy sessions. It was Tatiana who took the time to explain her illness to those present.
She also reiterated that this form of donation is done by simply taking a blood sample, without pain or danger to the donor's health. In conclusion, she wanted to convey this simple message: "Don't be individualistic, open yourself to others. With a simple donation you have the power to save lives."
