Health. Heat, unleashed desires: does libido really intensify in summer?

Warmth, slightly uncovered bodies, long evenings... So many elements that in the middle of summer encourage encounters and excite our senses. However, is our libido more heightened?
Warmth, slightly uncovered bodies, long evenings... So many elements that in the middle of summer encourage encounters and excite our senses. However, is our libido more heightened?
Yes, says Béatrice Cuzin, a sexologist in Lyon. "In winter, even if we don't really know why, we tend to withdraw into ourselves and eat a lot more," explains Dr. Cuzin. "We are much less active. This can be partly explained by the lack of light." In other words, in winter, many factors affect our libido.
Seasonal affective disorder"We see it every day in our consultations: sexual desires and urges are generally low during this season. But it still depends on each individual and also on the geographical location." This is what psychiatrists describe as seasonal affective disorder.
In summer, it's true, pajamas and other mood-killers stay in the closet. Swimsuits, dresses, and low-cut tops are all the rage.
"There's a lot more sensoriality," emphasizes Béatrice Cuzin. "The colors are more vivid, the smells stronger, the heat is accentuated. We also feel better mentally, stressful situations are less overwhelming."
Today, on a physiological level, no study has shown an increase in our libido during the summer months. However, according to our specialist, the finding is clear!
"When the weather is nice again, we see more sexual desire. It's not a myth. We feel it in our consultations. Patients say they are less stressed and more inclined to fully experience their sexuality."
