"I started drinking at 19, it was festive, at parties with friends. The day I realized it wasn't normal anymore was when I was alone at home and I opened my bottles of rosé," explains the 45-year-old French star. A weakness that she attributes to her troubled childhood: "Things weren't going well at home, I had an alcoholic dad, a depressed mom, and to numb all that, I consumed alcohol."
Suicide attempt"I fell into depression at 28 until the day I attempted suicide in 2010, and then I said to myself, 'I'm an alcoholic,' I hated myself," she tells Konbini. After seeing a psychologist at 33, she decided to take control of her life and fight the evil that was eating away at her.
While she says she's now under control of her drinking, she admits she hasn't completely gotten rid of her addiction. "I'm an alcoholic and I'll be one for the rest of my life. It's not something to be ashamed of, it's not something to be proud of, it's an illness." The model speaks out with a spirit of altruism and prevention: "I want to tell alcoholics that they are not alone."
