Varois-et-Chaignot. Mucolor Run: Colorful Strides to Beat Cystic Fibrosis

For several weeks, the colorful and charitable race, whose goal is to fight cystic fibrosis, a hereditary genetic disease, has been sold out. Two new courses of 4 and 7 kilometers await runners and walkers on Sunday, June 15 in Varois-et-Chaignot.
"The unique feature of this 2nd Mucolor Run is that we're doubling the number of participants compared to the previous edition," explains Clélia Fanoni, the event's organizer. "We've modified the routes, including a passage through the Varois fort," continues Clélia, who is affected by this rare disease. Increasing the capacity allowed the Marsannay-la-Côte judo club to recruit 200 participants to support Nikita, a young 6-year-old judoka with cystic fibrosis, which affects the digestive and respiratory tracts.
"Mutual aid, this notion of supporting the association to advance research, is one of the values of judo," emphasizes Marc Muin, president of the club. Alongside the courses, participants and visitors will be able to wander around the village all day, among information stands and activities. "There will be an inflatable structure, fishing, a stuffed toy tree, surprise envelopes, Emmanuel's balloons, free oversized games, health rugby, "RUBieS," as well as a massage stand," explains Chantal Barbey, president of the Demain sans mucoviscidose association. During this day, the main focus will be fundraising to help people affected by the disease, as well as families who are being treated at the cystic fibrosis research and expertise center in Dijon and Besançon.
"It's also a great opportunity to learn more because this pathology is still very poorly understood. Yet it's one of the genetic diseases that affects one in 600 patients," says Agnès Fanoni, vice-president of the association.
