With more than €72,500 raised, the 2024 Telethon has reached record levels in Monaco.

It was a special year for the Telethon in Monaco. For the first time, the charity event, which aims to raise funds to fight rare genetic diseases, took place in two stages in the Principality. In another first, the "Telethon Village" took place in January at the Espace Léo-Férré, which the Monaco Maladies Génétiques (MMG) association had never before occupied for the occasion.
On the program: a flea market, music groups, a quiz on the Olympics, the presence of firefighters, a zumbathon with 12 teachers, a lottery, a raffle and other various stands. " We were worried about this second phase because we feared a lack of enthusiasm with a new location for the Telethon village, but in the end it was quite the opposite. The Monegasques mobilized and this second phase was very positive," rejoices Muriel Agliardi, president of MMG. The latter particularly praises the success of the zumbathon and the raffle which brought in a lot of donations.
A 22% increaseIt's now time to take stock of this two-phase 2024 edition, whose theme was: Builders. And the least we can say is that the Monegasques responded more than presently, with a total of €72,689.70 raised, an increase of 22.27% compared to the previous edition. In detail, volunteers accumulated €23,839.70 in the field and €48,850 via global telematics (3637, online, etc.).
In France, the 30 hours of the 2024 Telethon ended with a total of €79,801,520. " Faced with the victories and results presented, such as those for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, confidence in our fight remains. Together, we have overcome barriers that many thought insurmountable," rejoices Muriel Agliardi. "What the researchers told us during this Telethon is that they know how to do it; it's 'just' a question of resources. The donations collected will allow us to achieve new victories for patients and their families."
“Boost your Telethon” in 2025Now, the 39th Telethon will be launched in September, this time with the theme "Boost Your Telethon." While details for the 2025 edition have yet to be finalized, organizers hope the new Léo-Ferré concert hall will be available to host the charity event despite ongoing renovations. If not, it could be held at the Grimaldi Forum, as in previous editions.
In the meantime, the association encourages Monegasques who wish to participate in the event as a volunteer or propose an activity to contact the Telethon Monaco team at: 00.377.97 77.36.37.
