On Wednesday, April 30, the Social Affairs Committee examined Articles 6 to 13 of the proposed law on "assisted dying." Opponents attempted, in vain, to introduce more "safeguards," particularly in cases of hesitation on the part of the dying person. The underlying theme is two difficult-to-reconcile conceptions of dignity.
