A Savoyard animal protection association claims that many high schools in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes are not complying with the requirement to offer at least one vegetarian meal per week. This is disputed by the Region, which explained its position to the administrative court on Friday.

On November 1, 2019, the Egalim law introduced the requirement to offer a weekly vegetarian menu in school canteens. What was supposed to be a two-year experiment was ratified by the Climate and Resilience Act of August 2021.
