Bruno Retailleau takes the helm of LR and sets his sights on 2027

Following its congress, the right-wing party's activists appointed the Minister of the Interior as their new president. A campaign marked by outrage, particularly against immigration.
The right has its new leader. This Sunday, May 18, after the vote of 97,736 members of the "Republicans" (LR), Bruno Retailleau was appointed president of the party . With 74.3% of the vote, the Minister of the Interior is well ahead of Laurent Wauquiez (25.6%), MP for Haute-Loire. He thus succeeds Eric Ciotti who left his post vacant after deciding to ally himself with the National Rally during the last legislative elections. As soon as the results were announced, the unsuccessful candidate nevertheless made a point of warning the winner: "We must unite the entire right and carry out a project of rupture."
A victory for what lessons? Even after three months of campaigning, it is difficult to clearly determine...
