His only "fault" was wearing an anti-fascist T-shirt. A 37-year-old union activist was attacked by thugs claiming to be members of GUD Paris, a far-right group dissolved last year, on Thursday on the sidelines of the May Day demonstration in the capital. The victim, a local CGT union leader in Seine-Saint-Denis, was simply walking with his partner when two men attacked him. He got off "fairly well," he says, but his body was scarred, so he filed a complaint that same evening.
It's around 5 p.m. on Thursday. The sun is shining, and the temperature is hovering around 30 degrees. A beautiful day that Yoan and his partner are taking advantage of to go for a walk after the union demonstration. They then head home to Place de la Bastille, not far from the demonstration route. They aren't wearing any activist gear, but he's wearing a T-shirt adorned with red and black banners and the PAL flag.
