In the Lyon metropolitan area too, the Greens are struggling, according to this new poll.

According to the latest poll by our colleagues at Lyon Mag , Bruno Bernard, president of the Lyon Metropolitan Area, also seems to be lagging behind in terms of voting intentions, like Grégory Doucet at the town hall.
Everyone is talking about it: Jean-Michel Aulas, who, thanks to two recent favorable polls, has become the clear favorite in the race for mayor of Lyon in 2026. While Grégory Doucet, credited with only 24% of voting intentions in the first round of the municipal elections, compared to 47% for the former OL boss, seems more than ever in difficulty, his ecologist colleague Bruno Bernard is not far behind.

According to the same poll conducted by OpinionWay for our colleagues at Lyon Mag and Radio Espace , the president of the Lyon Metropolitan Area is trailing significantly behind his main rival, Véronique Sarselli. The mayor of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon garnered 36% of the voting intentions in the first round of the metropolitan election, compared to 27% for the incumbent president.
A nine-point difference exists, with Bruno Bernard benefiting from the support of the Socialists and Communists, while Véronique Sarselli has yet to secure the backing of the Macronist base and the centrist parties (Renaissance, Horizons, and MoDem). Although Bruno Bernard garnered "only" 22% of the vote in the first round of the 2020 metropolitan elections, his score climbed to 35% when the votes of the two other left-wing lists were combined.
It's also worth noting that the National Rally list, tested in this poll with Andréa Kotarac but which will be headed by Tiffany Joncour, garnered 20% of voting intentions. This is more than double the 7% it obtained in the first round in 2020. After winning two seats in the Rhône department last year, the far-right party could make a significant entry into the metropolitan council if these trends continue next March.

Finally, the La France Insoumise list, tested with MP Idir Boumertit at its head, garnered 15% of voting intentions. La France Insoumise has not yet officially nominated a candidate for the 2026 metropolitan elections.
These scores confirm the difficult period being experienced by the Green elected officials of the Lyon metropolitan area, from Grégory Doucet to Bruno Bernard. The latter, not yet officially a candidate for his own succession, is now trailing his right-wing competitor.
The Green Party president, who had long hoped that Grégory Doucet's poor image at City Hall wouldn't negatively impact his record at the Metropolitan level, can take comfort in one figure: five months before the metropolitan elections, 16% of those surveyed have yet to express a voting intention. This is a fairly high number, and these undecided voters could tip the election result one way or the other next March.
