Lyon Metropolis. In Vénissieux, why the town hall pays tribute to Annie Steiner, FLN fighter

What do you think of the initiative of the communist majority in Vénissieux?
"I see it as a positive symbol, perfectly legitimate, and courageous. Although she was of European origin, Annie Steiner had observed the poverty of the country and of the Algerians, those we called Muslims, who had a lower social status. She took up the cause of the majority of the country's inhabitants who wanted to be citizens like the others, notably through the right to vote, which the colonial status denied, and which provoked what is called the Algerian War . She seems to me to have been a courageous woman - there are others, of course, who are little known."
