What was Metz like before 2020? Gotham City, obviously, that dark and dirty city in Batman. On Thursday, June 5, at the city council meeting, the majority had a field day. They promoted their record by wiping their feet on the 12 years of Dominique Gros, the previous mayor. Security, sound financial management, citizen outreach, a vibrant city center: Metz had it all wrong. All of this has since been addressed: massive recruitment in the municipal police force (from 94 to 123 positions over the term), reorientation of 50% of the workforce into local "police patrols," and a municipal police intervention every 9 minutes.
