Presidential Election: Sandrine Rousseau "does not know" if she will be a candidate but promises to lead "the cultural battle"

No new names on the long list of candidates, but a wave of the hand. While the left is pondering whether or not it should hold a primary to have a chance of winning the presidential election, Sandrine Rousseau refuses to officially enter the race, without closing the door.
"I don't know if I'll be a candidate in 2027, but in any case, I'll lead the cultural battle because we really need to have words and proposals that are up to the challenges," the Green Party MP said on Sud Radio this Friday morning.
Several figures on the left are hoping for a single candidate in the race for the Élysée, such as MP François Ruffin , who was once close to the Insoumis party before sitting among the ecologists in the Assembly. The leader of Picardie debout hopes for a nomination in the form of a primary that would allow all components of the left , including the Insoumis party, to participate.
The same goes for Olivier Faure, who was only just re-elected as head of the Socialist Party last week, who is calling for only one representative for the Socialists and the Greens , without Jean-Luc Mélenchon among the participants in this internal competition.
For the moment, several figures on the left are rejecting this principle, starting with La France Insoumise . It must be said that with 21.95% of the vote in the first round of the 2022 presidential election, Jean-Luc Mélenchon considers himself powerful enough to qualify for the second round this time in 2027.
This has given rise to numerous remote exchanges between all the components of the left, often in an acrimonious tone , arousing the annoyance of Sandrine Rousseau.
"We are in a moment of collapse, a moment of collapse of public services, of our democracy, of biodiversity, of the oceans" and "so I'm fed up with the little phrases, they're not up to the task," the ecofeminist chides.
"Being a candidate everywhere is what people hate," she insists.
In her own camp, the president of the Ecologists, Marine Tondelier, is calling for "the most open primary possible," which is, however, not the option that "she prefers."
The results of the legislative elections have given the supporters of unity something to think about since the first round of the presidential election: united, the left managed to win 151 deputies in 2022 , almost double the score of the RN. As for the surprise legislative elections last June, the left came out on top at the polls .
