Socialist Party Congress: Olivier Faure's team claims victory in the second round

Olivier Faure's camp claims victory over Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol in the second round of the Socialist Party Congress , held this Thursday, June 6.
"With more than 91 federations reported by our local representatives, corresponding to more than 94% of the ballots counted, Olivier Faure comes out on top in the election to elect the First Secretary," his team wrote.
"According to our estimates, this trend can no longer be reversed," the camp of the First Secretary of the Socialist Party further asserts.
"There is a minimum gap of 386 votes at the moment. A gap that is expected to widen further tomorrow in Olivier Faure's favor with the improvement in results from Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guiana," estimates the candidate's team.
A gap that is now "irrecoverable" for his team, which assures that Olivier Faure "would also be in the lead in nearly 60 federations", with a lead "of more than half a thousand votes expected".
As for his rival, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, those close to the mayor of Rouen announced a margin of "less than one point" and "a 50/50 score." One of the candidate's supporters urged people to wait for the final results. "No one can say who won. We're neck and neck with a very close score," this source said.
For the time being, a review commission is to be held in the next few hours to examine each federation's irregularities one by one.
