2026 World Cup: Jordi Cruyff arrives in Indonesia and joins Patrick Kluivert

Former Dutch international Jordi Cruyff joins compatriot Patrick Kluivert in Indonesia as the quest for the 2026 World Cup begins.
The son of legend Johan Cruyff sets down his bags in Indonesia. Former Dutch player Jordi Cruyff has joined his compatriot Patrick Kluivert in Indonesia to help the Garuda team secure a historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the local federation has announced.
The 51-year-old former FC Barcelona sporting director , son of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff, has been appointed technical advisor to the Indonesian Football Association (PPSI). In early January, in the middle of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Indonesian federation announced the appointment of Patrick Kluivert as coach, succeeding South Korean Shin Tae-yong.
Indonesia, ranked 127th in the FIFA rankings, still has to get through the Asian qualifiers to participate in the 2026 World Cup. Its only participation in the World Cup dates back to 1938, in France, when it was then a Dutch colony.
The challenge facing Kluivert and Cruyff is a big one, as after six matches Indonesia are third in their group, with one win and three draws, while only the top two in the group will go directly to North America.
Patrick Kluivert will make his debut on the bench on March 20 in a perilous trip to Group C runners-up Australia, who have a one-point lead. Indonesia will then host Bahrain on March 25.
