Dominique Malonga shines again despite Storm loss, A'ja Wilson achieves first 30-20 in WNBA history

Dominique Malonga remains true to her new standards. Two days after setting her career high for points (22), she scored almost as many (20) in the Seattle Storm's 91-94 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday night. At 19, she became the youngest player in league history to score two games with more than 20 points.

Shooting 9/12 from the field and grabbing 11 rebounds, the Frenchwoman helped her team stay in the game until the final quarter, led by Brittney Sykes' 27 points, while Gabby Williams scored 5 points and provided 3 assists in 25 minutes. Despite the performance of the former ASVEL center, the number 2 pick in the last draft, Seattle has suffered a fifth straight loss and has a balanced record, with 16 wins and 16 losses.

Earlier in the evening, the Minnesota Lynx consolidated their position at the top of the league by dominating their runners-up, also the defending champions, New York (83-71). Marine Johannès, who was not brilliant during her 17 minutes of play (3/8 shooting), scored 10 points. Ahead at halftime but overtaken in the third quarter (19-30), the Liberty fell back after three straight victories (20 wins, 11 losses) and let Minnesota take the lead (27 wins, 5 losses).

Rachid Meziane's Sun remain stuck in last place, beaten by the Las Vegas Aces (86-94) despite Leïla Lacan's 13 points and 5 assists. Connecticut's other French player, Mamignan Touré, only played two minutes, while reigning MVP A'ja Wilson put in a historic performance by achieving the first "30-20" in WNBA history (32 points and 20 rebounds for the Aces).
