Football: Galatasaray to take criminal action against Mourinho after 'racist statements'

SCAN SPORT - The Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe ended in a draw (0-0) on Monday. After José Mourinho's comments were deemed "immoral and racist", Galatasaray announced that it was filing a complaint.

Speaking at a press conference after the Istanbul derby, Jose Mourinho said the home side had "jumped like monkeys" and also reiterated his criticism of Turkish referees, saying it would have been "disastrous" to bring in an official from the country.
Monday's match was refereed by Slovenian Slavko Vincic, with both clubs requesting a foreign referee to take charge of the game.
In Türkiye, José Mourinho was fined €18,000 in November 2024 after severely criticising a referee.
Galatasaray leads the Turkish championship with a 6-point lead over runner-up Fenerbahce.
