Football: Thauvin already sparkling with Lens

New recruit for the Sang et Or, Florian Thauvin, was decisive in his team's friendly victory this Saturday against RB Leipzig (2-1).
Florian Thauvin was the star of RC Lens' final warm-up match on Saturday at home to RB Leipzig (2-1 victory), delivering a classy assist in his first game for the Blood and Gold. Barely a minute after his much-acclaimed substitute appearance, the 2018 world champion accelerated down the left side, beat an opposing defender with an inside hook and then provided a perfect cross to Matthieu Udol, who headed the ball into the back of the net (2-0, 63rd).
Florian Thauvin, "he's a player who has that in his system, that's also why we took him. We're very happy that he was able to express it" so quickly, reacted Lens coach Pierre Sage after the match on the regional channel Wéo.
Skip the adAfter a lackluster first half, Lens had already gotten on track thanks to a diving header from Adrien Thomasson (58th minute). Former Sang et Or player Lois Openda reduced the deficit for RB Leipzig late in the match (82nd minute).
Florian Thauvin, 32, signed with Lens this week from Udinese until 2028. He has been given the number 10 jersey, the playmaker's jersey.
