By Le ParisienAfter a time trial that reshuffled the cards for the general classification, the Giro riders face a new challenge this Wednesday, during the eleventh stage between Viareggio and Castelnovo Ne'Monti.
In the Apennines, the peloton will tackle Alpe San Pellegrino (14.2 km at 8.7%, including sections at 19%!) in the middle of the day, a summit that has been neglected by the race for 25 years... which could well cause damage among the favorites.
Even though the rest of the stage will be quieter, with two second-category passes, this climb could indeed allow the UAE-Team Emirates armada, with its Isaac Del Toro-Juan Ayuso tandem, to take action and definitively remove some of its rivals from the race for the pink jersey... Starting with Primoz Roglic, the favorite announced at the start of the event, but less prominent than expected in the first stages.
The eleventh stage of the Giro can be followed this Wednesday, May 21, on Eurosport 1 and MAX from 12:20 p.m.
