Ligue 1: Three players sanctioned for their attitude during the day against homophobia

Lens' Jonathan Gradit, Lyon's Nemanja Matic and Ahmed Hassan have all received suspensions.
By Le Parisien with AFPLigue 1 players Jonathan Gradit (Lens), Nemanja Matic (Lyon) and Ahmed Hassan (Le Havre) have been sanctioned for their actions during the anti-homophobia day, the Professional Football League (LFP) announced on Wednesday.
Gradit was suspended for one match by the LFP's disciplinary committee for uttering a homophobic insult during halftime of the match against Monaco on May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
Ahmed Hassan and Nemanja Matic had dissociated themselves from this day , which notably planned for the players to wear a special badge at the initiative of the LFP, which Matic had covered with a plaster.
They received two-match suspended sentences and two matches and agreed to participate within six months in an awareness-raising campaign to combat homophobia in football.
Last year, in similar circumstances, former Monaco player Mohamed Camara was suspended for four matches for covering the rainbow-coloured badge with black tape.
It should be noted that the Egyptian player from Nantes, Mostafa Mohamed, who had refused to play, was not affected by this disciplinary procedure.
