Lyon: OL Women becomes OL Lyonnes and changes its logo

On Monday, May 19, OL Women's president and owner Michele Kang announced a series of changes within the football club. Among other things, the club is changing its name and logo.
The OL women's team is becoming "OL Lyonnes." This was announced by the club's president and owner, Michele Kang, at a press conference on Monday, May 19. "It's a bit like a new story; we need to have our own identity," explained Michele Kang.
But that's not all. While the president of "OL Lyonnes" has opted for a new name, the logo is also changing. From now on, the OL women's team will stand out with a different logo than the men's. Composed of the club's historic colors: blue, red, and white, the new logo is changing in its design: "OL is the best team in the history of women's football, it deserves dedicated resources. But for that, the women's club needs its own identity, without it being secondary," the American emphasizes.
Another announcement: OL Lyonnes will now play its Premier League, Coupe de France, and Champions League matches at the Groupama Stadium in Décines-Charpieu. "The team needs a very professional environment; the training ground is not suitable for a team like OL," said Michelle Kang.
Although the team is used to playing in the 59,000-seat stadium, it is still struggling to attract an audience: "It's certainly very big, but we've already reached 30,000 to 40,000 spectators, so it's not that inaccessible," the club owner tries to reassure.
Finally, from 2026, OL Lyonnes will have a campus dedicated to women's football in Meyzieu: "Our current training center is far too small, it lacks space, equipment and capacity." For their part, the men's academy, the reserve team and the professionals will be brought together at the training center in Décines-Charpieu.
