No title for Fréjus, beaten in the golden set during the final in Ajaccio

After their 3-0 defeat in the first leg last Friday, the Fréjus team were doomed to a feat this Friday evening in the return final in Ajaccio.
The outsiders gave the regular season winner a run for their money, winning the return match three sets to two (20-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-21, 17-19). Led by Joshua Marty and Jérôme Clère in particular, Loïc Geiler's men concluded this encounter on their fourth match point, in a white-hot Palatinu hall.
This result propelled both teams into the famous golden set (a deciding set of 15 points) to determine the winner of this final. And it was GFC Ajaccio who best controlled this decisive set, winning it 15-12. Thanks to this and at the end of a three-hour thriller, the Corsicans, led by Brazilian Daniel Bala, a monstrous attacker, won the French League B championship title and promotion to League A.
The Fréjus team will therefore return to the second division next year, with the added experience of a final.
