Tennis: Müller in the top 50 of the ATP ranking, Rublev overtakes Paul

French tennis player Alexandre Müller, finalist of the ATP 500 in Rio, has jumped 19 places to enter the world top 50.

Russian Andrey Rublev, winner of the ATP 500 tournament in Doha on Saturday , moved up one place in the world rankings on Monday (9th), while Frenchman Alexandre Müller, finalist in Rio, jumped to 41st. Rublev overtook American Tommy Paul (10th) and Doha finalist Jack Draper of Great Britain moved up to 12th (+4).

Semi-finalist in Doha, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime gains two places but remains just outside the top 20 (21st), followed by Czech Jiri Lehecka, who eliminated Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals (22nd, +3). Beaten at the same stage, Matteo Berrettini closes the top 30 (+5). No other changes to report in the top 10: Jannik Sinner, suspended for three months for doping , is still the world number 1, ahead of Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz.

Frenchman Alexandre Müller, beaten Sunday in the final of the ATP 500 in Rio by Argentinian Sebastian Baez (31st), made the biggest comeback with a jump of 19 places and entered the top 50 (41st). He is preceded by one place by his compatriot Gaël Monfils (40th, -2). First Frenchman, Ugo Humbert loses a place (15th). Arthur Fils remains 19th and Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard gains a rank (29th).
