The Beauvallon golf course in Grimaud has its number 1 hole back

Last Sunday, the Beauvallon golf course held a competition called the "Hole 1 Inauguration Cup." This event was created to celebrate the completion of the work carried out between February and the end of April to redesign the tee of this course to its original appearance.

As a reminder, the then-president of the Grimaud golf course, Serge Brouant, went to war with the Beauvallon Tennis Club. The two parties ended up in court. The golf course lost a lot in this affair, as the court ordered it to vacate the building that served as the clubhouse and also housed the pro shop.

" The tee of hole No. 1, as well as the driving range and the building, are on land belonging to the Tennis Club ," emphasizes François Michel, president of the Beauvallon golf course since 2019.

Promoters on the lookout...

The manager approached Arnaud Deleval, president of the Beauvallon Tennis Club: " We agreed on the payment of rent, and it was following this agreement that we were able to begin the work and, above all, move back into the building, which finally allows us to welcome golfers in much better conditions. We had to wait almost six years! "

On the tennis side, Arnaud Deleval is pleased with this outcome: " It's indeed a very good thing, the president of the golf course, François Michel, contacted me one day with the desire to renew dialogue. We managed to reach an agreement, I would like to point out that I have been very solicited about this land, particularly by developers. I had set myself a deadline of December 2024 to give an answer. I waited several years because my priority was to see the golf course reclaim the land and the building. The golf course came forward a few weeks before the end of last year, and we have since found this common ground that satisfies both parties."

50,000 euros of work

Work began at the beginning of the year, and the establishment spent nearly €50,000 on it. This sum was needed to repaint the reception area and the shop, which had been left abandoned, as well as to redesign the first hole and the driving range.

Sunday's competition thus definitively turned the page on this shady episode between tennis and the Beauvallon golf course. The Grimaud golf course will celebrate its centenary next year; it currently has 470 shareholder members. The establishment is doing very well, with its 14 employees and its director, Thomas Bourgeon.

" We are lucky to have a magnificent view of the sea. A player once told me that he had lined up on a three-master that had dropped anchor to play his ball ," recalls François Michel. The 80 golfers who participated in the "Inauguration Cup" are all delighted to see the course complete. " The reception staff are working again in good conditions and the driving range is usable. We can only be delighted !" concludes the president.
