Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, the happy medium

The range of the benchmark sports car is being readjusted with the arrival of a new Carrera 4 version, available only with all-wheel drive.
In the 911 family, you have to keep up. The developments and variations follow one another at a frantic pace. Between the base Carrera version with 394 horsepower and the new GTS hybrid version with 541 horsepower, Porsche saw fit to revise the Carrera S. Thanks in particular to an optimization of the charge air cooling system, its 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six has gained another 30 hp to deliver a power output of 480 hp. This new engine is mated to the eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission.
With nearly half of customers choosing the Carrera S with all-wheel drive, the three body styles available—coupe, convertible, and Targa—are exclusively available with this equipment. This brings the number of 911s available with four-wheel drive to six, but it's highly likely that the 480 hp engine will also be offered with the two-wheel drive variant. As with previous models, the water-cooled front differential clutch is electromechanically controlled. Only the transmission ratio has been slightly modified. Under normal conditions, the Carrera 4S's all-wheel drive (PTM) system prioritizes torque on the rear axle. Only when needed does it deliver more torque to the front axle to increase traction.
Porsche has taken advantage of the launch of the new 911 Carrera 4S to enhance the standard equipment, which now includes 20/21-inch wheels with a modernized design, the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) torque vectoring system, and a sports exhaust. The standard braking system is that of the GTS models, with red brake calipers, 408 mm discs at the front and 380 mm at the rear. As for the 911 Targa 4S, it comes with rear-wheel steering as standard. While the Cabriolet and Targa versions have rear seats, the coupé comes standard with a two-seater version. However, it is possible to request rear seats at no extra cost.
With the 480 hp engine, performance improves. 100 km/h (62 mph) is reached in 3.3 seconds and the top speed is increased to 308 km/h (191 mph). Pricing starts at €166,400 for the coupe.
