1-9 for David Clifford as Kerry blitz old foes Tyrone and make All-Ireland final

Declan Bogue Reports from Croke Park

KERRY HAVE PRODUCED another massive second half display to destroy Ulster opposition as they blew Tyrone apart in the All-Ireland semi-final, after dethroning Armagh in the previous round.

They will now meet the winners of Meath and Donegal in 15 days time.

After going in at half-time 1-9 to 0-9 ahead, Kerry cut loose from the 43rd minute, scoring an unanswered eight points. Within that tally, Joe O’Connor had two goal sightings that he instead blasted over the bar.

Tyrone’s attack looked to be right on it for the first quarter of an hour, leaping into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead. But it soon withered and four of the starting six forwards were taken off.

They also had a period during Kerry’s dominant streak when they hit five wides in six minutes.

The Kingdom victory owed much to the performance of David Clifford who scored 1-9 all in, his goal the perfect example of movement first, pace second and finally, guile.
