Contemporary Art for Everyone, from Your Living Room in 15 Countries

Contemporary art is not only prerogative of expert enthusiasts of the genre, but it is an experience which can involve all those who believe they can gain something from it inner benefit. An interest in art in a broad sense which concerns both that preserved in museums and all those expressions that offer an original point of view on the world even from a tiny place on the planet. Seoul is not a such a small place, but it is the living room of a house in the capital of South Korea. This is where ArtCaffè develops, a monthly art-talk in which artists coming not only from East Asia, present their work to a diverse audience between an exhibition, a conversation and a slice of cake prepared by the owner of Raffaella Gallo, 48 years old from Ceva, Piedmont. After studying engineering and spending ten years at work in the automotive industry, moved to Beijing taking an interest in contemporary art, purchasing several works for the home and opening a first focus on contemporary art. In 2012 ArtCaffè was born, a multicultural platform that in living room of the house, transformed into a gallery, involves once a month emerging and established artists with fans not closely linked to the world of art. "A gateway for people who want to start approaching art contemporary", Gallo herself tells ANSA, who in these years between Shanghai and Seoul has hosted the Friday of every month 90 artists from 20 countries presenting them to an audience that comes from more than 70 different countries. Among the most well-known are the Koreans Lee Bae and Dew Kim, Dutch Erwin Olaf, Chinese Pixy Liao, Thai Joyce Ho, American Tracey Snelling and the Italians Giovanni Ozzola and Aldo Cibic. ArtCafè now has 15 connecting nodes in three continents USA, Europe and Asia, including one in Piedmont where in the city of birth of Gallo, Ceva, through a European call will be a real room has been created that will host various events which it will also be possible to participate in streaming or on instagram artcaffe_byraffaellagallo. "My project is to consolidate the ArtCaffè network and develop it as an international hub, with the activation of connecting nodes from all over the world - he explains - these connections they in turn host the public in their living rooms at home using the online platform through which the community dispersed throughout the world participates interactively at the event. Connecting nodes also have the opportunity to propose artists to be included in the program, becoming co-hosts".
