Eurovision 2025, sensational: who is the Italian who can overwhelm and beat Lucio Corsi...

Life takes strange turns and then in the end the numbers always add up, someone wisely says. The same goes for love and music. We really wanted Gabry Ponte's patriotic hit Tutta l'Italia, launched in Sanremo, to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest with the tricolor flag (in place of Olly who declined the invitation) also to give a shout out to the Estonian who makes fun of us with Espresso Macchiato, and somehow we were satisfied. Somehow: the song now has a concrete chance of entering the list of those admitted to the Eurovision Song Contest, and this chance is that it wins the San Marino Festival. Yes. Tutta l'Italia in San Marino, which as we know well is not Italy, but is a separate nation. A bit like when Elisabetta Canalis, from Sardinia, made the commercial "La mia Liguria" on the occasion of Sanremo. Long live consistency. So if Italy sends Lucio Corsi to the competition with Voglio essere un duro, San Marino still has to choose its candidate. But we already know who they're rooting for.
For a few years now, the San Marino festival has become a sort of receptacle for all those looking for a second chance, perhaps because Sanremo didn't accept them, or they finished at the bottom of the rankings, or because they want to participate in Eurovision at all costs and to do so any opening is fine: the front door, the window, the back door. San Marino is at least a possibility. "It's possible, and that's enough", said Bradley Cooper in Limitless. A few years ago even a big name like Achille Lauro was part of it after a disappointing placing at the Ariston but not even the victory with Stripper guaranteed him access to Eurovision. Loredana Bertè also participated. Just yesterday the cast of the 2025 festival was revealed. "Thanks to your enthusiasm", Gabry Ponte says to the audience, "I decided to participate in the San Marino Contest hoping to bring All of Italy to all of Europe!".

There will be others in the competition, a series of disparate names that have somehow disappeared from the radar for some time: the Sardinian Bianca Atzei, Boosta, Pierdavide Carone, Marco Carta (former winner of Sanremo), Luisa Corna (who participated in the Festival with Fausto Leali in 2002) and Silvia Salemi. The San Marino Song Contest will take place on March 8 and will select the representative for the 69th edition of Eurovision, scheduled from May 13 to 17 in Basel, Switzerland. The event - now in its fourth edition - is held at the Teatro Nuovo di Dogana and is broadcast live on San Marino Rtv, as well as on Rai Radio 2 and RaiPlay.
The show, with the artistic direction of Massimo Bonelli, will be hosted by Flora Canto and Francesco Facchinetti, with the incursions of the sparkling Cristiano Malgioglio. Rai is banking heavily on the event, which will also be a Serie B Sanremo (no offense) but promises to grow and then in 2025 it is cloying to be snobbish. "I expect that this great event for the Republic of San Marino can have even more visibility, as it deserves. We do not want to copy anyone: we want to ensure that a selection of singers from all over the world can participate and compete to go on stage at the Eurovision for the Republic of San Marino", said Federico Pedini Amati, Secretary of State for Tourism.
The selection competition for the Eurovision Song Contest in San Marino is therefore changing its name and appearance. The General Director of Rai and San Marino RTV, Roberto Sergio, spoke of a «renewed and recognizable event» with «top-level names in the hosting and a quality production» in response to the media relevance gained over the years and the growing attention of Italian and European viewers. A lot is being focused on social media: «They are the new engine of communication», says Flora Canto. Maybe in a little while we will sing Tutta San Marino. Olè.
