Georgescu arrested and interrogated in Romania

Romanian far-right politician Calin Georgescu, who surprisingly won the first round of the presidential elections last November, which were later annulled by the Constitutional Court, and who is one of the candidates in the new presidential elections scheduled for May 4, was stopped in traffic this morning and taken to the prosecutor's office to be questioned by the judges.

The charges against Georgescu and his associates are "actions against the constitutional order and false statements regarding the financing of the electoral campaign". The police carried out numerous searches in Bucharest.
