THE PLOT The very Neapolitan Mario Martone brings to the screen a legendary figure of the city, the actor and playwright Eduardo Scarpetta, who also went down in history as the father of three other legends: Eduardo, Peppino and Titina De Filippo. The film places his life in the early twentieth century, when he is at the height of his success. His reign begins to falter when D'Annunzio sues him for having parodied "La figlia di Iorio".
WHY SEE IT Because it is the flash of a fabulous era and the occasion for an extraordinary interpretation by Toni Servillo who traces an acute reflection on the relationship between life and spectacular representation that extends beyond the character of Scarpetta.
