Security has been increased at the Terme Euganee train station.

The Montegrotto Terme City Council has approved a resolution containing specific guidelines for strengthening urban security and increasing evening patrol services by the local police.
Starting in the coming days, the Terme Euganee train station area will be constantly monitored by law enforcement, who will rotate daily on evening duty at the station. Local police will also provide additional weekly services to support the state police, with the aim of ensuring peace and public order for residents and tourists in the spa district. The Montegrotto Terme municipality explains: "Given the influx of immigrants across the country and their presence in large cities, which is not always well-integrated and lawful, and also considering the "red zone" in Padua and Rovigo, where these individuals are unable to vent their frustrations, we are beginning to see a probable movement of these individuals towards the Euganean spa area, where the important Terme Euganee train station is located. This will further undermine the social balance and liveability of an area with a predominantly tourist economy, triggering a sense of loss of control and a widespread perception of insecurity."
The municipal administration adds: " Particular attention is being paid to the evening hours, coinciding with the arrival of the last regional train 3993 from Padua to Bologna Centrale at 10:20 PM. Indeed, several incidents have recently occurred that have raised concerns among residents and visitors to the area. The Carabinieri are investigating to identify those responsible. It is important to note that, after analyzing the images, the incidents can be traced back to simple altercations between a few people, thus minimizing exaggerated narratives of the events." In this regard, the mayor of Montegrotto Terme, Riccardo Mortandello, is maintaining close coordination with the State Police and the Carabinieri to address the situation. Law enforcement will intensify their presence in the area with extraordinary reinforcement services at the Terme Euganee train station, in order to prevent and contain any potential problematic incidents. The railway police also assured their collaboration, proceeding with the identification of passengers already on board trains departing in the evening hours from Padua with a stop at Terme Euganee, and monitoring the station in synergy with the local police and the Carabinieri.
Mayor Riccardo Mortandello states: " In any case, a profound reflection is needed on the management of foreigners, and especially non-EU citizens in Italy, who are increasingly forgotten by an absent state that fosters insecurity." Mortandello adds polemically: "After years spent howling against invaders, ethnic substitution, and the do-goodism of priests, communists, and red ticks, the current government, with the 2023-2025 immigration decree, to which the 2026-2028 immigration decree will be added, will allow a full million "non-EU citizens" to enter Italy, a clear contradiction to the slogan "Italians first" that is still being bandied about. A 20% increase in the migrant population in just a few years by government decree poses a potentially extremely high risk, especially if these people lack the security of a residence and a job."
