Music Festival: in Naples on June 21st performances in the Vomero metro and funicular stations

An open-air stage to give moments of happiness to the travellers of the Line 1 metro stations and the Vomero funiculars in Naples: this is the proposal, on the occasion of the Festa della Musica on 21 June, of the Roberto Murolo Foundation together with the ANM (Azienda Napoletana Mobilità) in collaboration with the Associazione Napulitanata.
This is a calendar of musical events that will transform the subway and funicular stations into an unexpected stage, offering passengers a musical welcome that will make every journey a special experience. At 11 am the Libreria IoCiSto Choir, directed by maestro Francesca Curti Giardina, will perform in the Piazza Vanvitelli Metro Station; at 12 pm the Napulitanata ensemble will perform as a quartet in the Piazza Fuga Funicular Station; at 6 pm Fabrizio Mandara will entertain passers-by at the Chiaia Funicular Station in Via Cimarosa; at 7:30 pm pianist Pasquale Cirillo will thrill travellers at the Piazza Vanvitelli Metro Station. Furthermore, outside the MU – Casa Museo Murolo – an artistic exhibition curated by the Associazione La Terra del Sole will be set up. Moreover, during the events organized with ANM, the funicular and metro tickets will have the image of the great maestro Murolo printed on them.
Neapolitan song is a cultural heritage, tangible and intangible, without borders, which is not only a testimony of a piece of the city's history, but a driving force capable of generating value in the territory. These musical events aim to bring citizens and tourists closer to the immense Neapolitan musical heritage and transform a moment of waiting into an unforgettable experience.
“The music festival of which Naples was the leading city is a moment of widespread sharing of our culture and our musical ferments and having a widespread stage is one of the many tangible signs that Naples is increasingly a city of Music!” says the Mayor's Advisor for the music and audiovisual industry Ferdinando Tozzi.
These are the words of Mario Coppeto, president of the Murolo Foundation: “ We want to bring music to the public places of the Vomero hill to strengthen and rediscover the territorial vocation of art and culture. On June 21st, music is celebrated all over the world as a vehicle of emotions and collective well-being. Music unites and makes people feel good. We have chosen the Neapolitan Song as an intergenerational bond through poetry and melody; timeless values. Frm, Mu, Anm and Napulitanata together on June 21st, in the beautiful stations of Vomero to rediscover the value of slowness and listening. Good Music to all travellers”.
