Oasis enchant Cardiff on reunion night

(by Alessandro Carlini) "Hello". They started again from there, from one of their most famous songs Oasis in the night of Cardiff, with brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher finally together after 16 years in a historic reunion: they went on stage one side by side raising their arms, hand in hand, with audience in raptures. The kings of Brit-pop enchanted with their guitars electric and melodious riffs the 74 thousand spectators of the Principality Stadium with its giant closed roof, transformed by home of Welsh rugby to a temple of music. "It's nice to be "back," Liam said during the first song, sparking more enthusiasm among the fans, and then move on to the band another hit, 'Acquiesce', in which both brothers have sang together, to bury the hatchet: "We have need each other". And then again the frontman, unleashed, he moved the audience by stressing, "It's been too long," in a performance that kicks off a world tour with 41 concerts, between UK, Ireland, USA, Japan, Australia and Brazil. The tracklist retraced the history of the greats successes of the Manchester band, in the midst of their thirtieth anniversaries: last year marked the debut with 'Definely Maybe' and next October 2nd it will be the turn of '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?'. They played songs like 'Some Might Say', 'Morning Glory', and 'Cigarettes and Alcohol'. There reunion was marked by an expanded line-up, almost a superband, with the Gallaghers joined by the original member of Oasis, Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, as well as Gem Archer and Andy Bell, both of whom joined the group in 1999 and remained in the lineup until the dissolution in 2009. With their Joey Waronker, former drummer for Rem and Beck, and Jess Greenfield, who is part of Noel's side project, The High Flying Birds. And Noel himself before going on stage said said: "It's done, there's no going back." The brothers have thus leaving behind the dramatic dissolution that occurred sixteen years ago, after yet another argument, backstage at one of their performance during the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. Peace, announced a year ago with the news of the tour, saw a process of rapprochement between the two brothers and the others band members started months ago. In the meantime, a gigantic machine has been set in motion of the organization, considering that they have been sold over 900,000 tickets for the tour. There was no shortage of controversy, with the scandal over the sale of coupons at inflated prices by some sites that ended up at the centre of an investigation in United Kingdom. But that certainly didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the fans arrived from all over the world. It was already evident when it went up on stage, before Oasis, Richard Ashcroft, historical frontman of the Verve, the eagerly awaited guest star, welcomed by the roar of the audience when he sang 'Sonnet' and 'Space and Time', pieces historians of its formation, another protagonist of the season brit-pop. "I'm so proud to be here tonight historic with the greatest rock band," Ashcroft said in great shape and with sunglasses, which already in the past had collaborated with Liam. Then he alternated the hits from solo, like 'Song for Lovers', those of the glorious Verve, from 'The Drugs Don't Work' to 'Bitter Sweet Symphony', dedicated to Gallagher: The audience gave him a standing ovation for the performance. The evening was a great return to the years Nineties though the spirit of Cool Britannia, with its carefree, is very far away in times of uncertainty. But the music goes its own way, to the rhythm of social media, and twenty-year-olds of then and those of today have found each other, united by the Oasis-mania, with t-shirts, caps and other clothing in 'mod' style, between nostalgia for a time gone by and the rediscovery of songs that always make you feel emotional.
