The Riviera Express, the Rome-French Riviera direct train, is back on track

"From the heart of the city, a new night train departs that offers, for tourism, the convenience of the large international trains that have disappeared today. The Espresso Riviera will depart every Friday from the beginning of July until the end of August, connecting Rome to the French Riviera and then departing again on Saturdays in the opposite direction. The aim is to intercept not only holidaymakers departing from the capital, increasingly looking for a varied offer of service levels on board the train, but also tourist flows towards western Liguria, finally offering a service without changes from Genoa to Ventimiglia and France."
This is how the CEO of Fs Treni Turistici Italiani (Fs group), Luigi Cantamessa, comments on the launch of the Espresso Riviera. «Comfort is also guaranteed in the day configuration of our Express trains thanks to the comfortable lounges and seats in first and second class and the restaurant service always active during the entire journey. A new way to travel while the sea flows by the window and you relax», Cantamessa underlines.
The Espresso Riviera is back on the tracks, the night train of Fs Treni Turistici Italiani that this summer will directly connect Rome, Genoa and western Liguria with the French Riviera, up to Marseille. The train will connect Rome to France, but also to Monte Carlo, becoming in all respects an international connection dedicated to tourism. The service will be operational from Friday 4 July until Saturday 30 August 2025, departing every Friday from Rome Termini station and arriving in Marseille on Saturday. The return journey is scheduled to depart from Marseille on Saturday and arrive in Rome on Sunday morning.
Thanks to the Fs Treni Turistici Italiani train, even travellers departing from Genoa, where there are scheduled connections with trains arriving from Milan, will be able to reach France without having to change trains.
On board, there is a restaurant service and spacious sleeping compartments to offer tourists a smooth and comfortable travel experience. During the night journey, it will be possible to travel in couchettes or sleeping cars, while from Genoa, the train will change configuration, assuming a daytime layout with lounges and first and second class seats, to allow passengers to enjoy the landscape along the Riviera. As on all the Express trains of Fs Treni Turistici Italiani, it will be possible to sit in the restaurant car to enjoy dinner or breakfast thanks to a bar service that is always open.
