Basketball - The eternal class of Adrian Banks: 43 points for the salvation of Libertas Livorno - Sport - Varese News

Several years have passed but, around here, no basketball fan has forgotten the class of Adrian Banks. The starting guard of coach Vitucci's "Unforgettables" who came close to winning the 2013 championship (the one taken away from Siena by sports justice...), who then returned to Varese the following year during the season, at the venerable age of 39 was decisive in a match without a return.
Banks scored 43 points in Game 5 of the playout final between his Libertas Livorno and Elachem Vigevano : the victory guaranteed salvation in Serie A2 , the defeat was synonymous with relegation. And Banks did not hold back: 5 out of 8 from 2, 5 out of 13 from 3 points, 18 out of 19 from free throws, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 50 evaluation in 38′ of use. (photo Del Monte/Libertas Livorno)
Livorno – a very hot place that dreams of returning to the highest levels and that has a city divided in two between Libertas and Pallacanestro – thus beat Vigevano by 82-75, thus earning permanence in the second national championship. The choice of Banks in the role of American guard was well rewarded in the Amaranto home: the former Cimberio player stood out for his leadership and consistency . His performances were fundamental in keeping the team's hopes alive, both in terms of results and morale.
Before the play-off (played in La Spezia on neutral ground), Banks had already produced some extraordinary performances : a triple double almost achieved in November against Pesaro (28 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists: 46 evaluation), 29 points with 5/7 3-pointers in the December victory over the league leaders Udine (then directly promoted to Serie A), 31 points and 9 assists in the April victory over Urania Milano. And, considering also the last performance against Vigevano, his season ended with an average of 19.3 points but in the five play-out games Adrian scored 30.4 points per night.
