Record heat, 17 cities on red today: peaks up to 40°

Torrid temperatures across the country due to African anticyclone Pluto
The month of July opens with a wave of torrid heat. Today, Tuesday 1 July, there will be 17 cities with a red dot, 18 on Wednesday 2 July. It's a slight decrease compared to the scorching Sunday just gone by with 21 red dots. But the heat wave continues in Italy, as certified by the latest update of the heat bulletin, published on the website of the Ministry of Health.
"July begins with the African anticyclone Pluto that will boil all of Italy with extreme temperatures of 38-40°C" Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist of ' iLMeteo.it ', tells Adnkronos. "The heat of June has not left us for a moment and this month also begins with a heat wave".
The hottest citiesThe cities on maximum alert today will be: Ancona, Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Florence, Frosinone, Genoa, Latina, Milan, Palermo, Perugia, Rieti, Rome, Turin, Trieste, Verona and Viterbo. Tomorrow the number of red dots will reach 18 with the addition of Campobasso. Naples will go from orange to yellow today and will remain so tomorrow, while Venice will remain yellow only today to rise and resume the orange dot tomorrow.
