Adjustment: €935 million for quality of life and attractiveness of Friuli Venezia Giulia

"This adjustment amounts to €935 million and demonstrates the full reliability of the regional accounting and financial system. This reliability, in turn, translates into a solid and robust budget, strengthened by the summer budget package across all strategic funding lines for the region, which is producing significant results for the benefit of the community." This was the comment from Regional Finance Councilor Barbara Zilli, on the sidelines of today's meeting of the First Integrated Commission, which approved the 2024 financial statements and began reviewing the budget adjustment. "We are using significant resources to strengthen investments and further boost the growth of this Region, in terms of GDP, attractiveness, social cohesion, and greater well-being for the community. Special attention is also given to the most vulnerable segments of the population, health, social policies, and families."
Among the key amendments being considered by the Committee are the allocations dedicated to cycling mobility. A total package of €7 million, €5 million of which will be earmarked for infrastructure upgrades on the Tagliamento River Cycle Route 6, €1.4 million to incentivize cycling between home and work, and €595,000 to implement municipal cycling mobility plans. "We strongly support the development of the regional cycling network," stated the councilor, "to benefit not only slow tourism, but also residents' daily commutes and environmental sustainability." Other amendments concern support for local consortia and freight terminals for the construction of infrastructure and extraordinary maintenance projects (€6.5 million). €1 million is also earmarked for the construction of equipped parking areas for heavy vehicles near industrial development areas, and over €2 million in contributions to local authorities for the completion of projects already funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and the Complementary National Plan. Regarding land conservation, new resources are being allocated for dredging and coastal protection works along the Barcola coast (€3 million) and for routine waterway maintenance (€1 million). The Commission's review of the assessment will continue tomorrow, before going to the Chamber on July 22 for a final vote.
