Fedriga denounces pro-PAL indoctrination in the classroom, sparking controversy over his statements.

WATCH THE VIDEO REPORT . There's a political storm surrounding the statements made today by the president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Massimiliano Fedriga. The governor raised the issue of pro-Palestinian and one-sided lessons that, according to some reports, teachers were allegedly giving in classrooms about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
If the facts are confirmed, Fedriga announced he would ask parliamentary questions on the issue. "Those who work within the institutions and educate our students cannot use class time to advance their own ideas, as absolute truth, without debate or the ability to criticize," Fedriga declared, also condemning the disturbances, such as stone throwing and roadblocks, that occurred yesterday in Trieste during the demonstration.
The opposition's reaction to his remarks was harsh. According to Massimo Moretuzzo, regional councilor for the Pact for Autonomy, Fedriga is sliding toward extreme positions, threatening teachers who don't align with his views. "First, he labels those who denounce Palestinian massacres as Hamas supporters, now he threatens non-aligned teachers with reprisals."
Democratic Party leader Diego Moretti shares the same opinion. While condemning the vandalism, he calls Fedriga's continued silence on the massacre of civilians in Gaza "not credible." Moretti believes the president is attempting to "threaten and intimidate anyone who doesn't follow the unified thinking of those governing the country."
