Fioravanti, Mayor of Ascoli, is the most beloved in Italy: “An incredible joy, thanks to everyone”

Ascoli, July 7, 2025 - "The most beloved mayor in Italy! An incredible joy, an extraordinary result, which testifies to the enormous appreciation for the work we are carrying out for our city!". This is what the mayor of Ascoli Piceno Marco Fioravanti wrote in a social post which is the winner of the Governance Poll 2025, by Sole24ore (70%).

Fioravanti was re-elected last year for a second term leading a center-right coalition for Ascoli Piceno. "Listening and dialogue, vision and concreteness: - Fioravanti adds in his post - thank you all for this wonderful good morning, I love you!".

The numbers also reward governor Francesco Acquaroli : with a jump of +1.4% on 2024: he is in 12th place.

In general, the approval ratings of mayors are improving: 85% of mayors exceed the 50% consensus threshold in 2025, compared to 77.5% in 2024. Among regional presidents, 72% obtain the 'yes' of at least half of those interested.

The mayors of the Marche

As for the mayors of the Marche, after Fioravanti, Paolo Calcinaro , the 'civic' mayor of Fermo , appears in fifth place, with 60% approval (still down: -11.4%). Then Sandro Parcaroli, Macerata at 55%, center-right (+2.2% compared to 2024). Then we find the mayor of Pesaro Andrea Biancani, center-left (55%, down 5.6%) in 50th place. In 70th place Daniele Silvetti , the mayor of Ancona , center-right (stable at 51.7%).

In second place overall is Michele Guerra (Parma) , winner last year. Closing the podium, on equal terms, are Vito Leccese, at his first attempt in the Governance Poll after being elected mayor of Bari last year, and the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi, a regular at the top of the rankings (in 2024 he was second), who is now also president of Anci. In the last places are the mayors of the cities of the South, while as far as Milan is concerned, Giuseppe Sala climbs ten positions to ninth place.

The regions

On the Governors front, Massimiliano Fedriga , president of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and of the Conference of the Regions, confirms his first place, followed by Luca Zaia from Veneto . Alberto Cirio, Governor of Piedmont, wins the bronze medal, completing a podium monopolized by the center-right of the North. In fourth place , instead, the center-left governor of Tuscany Eugenio Giani who sees his consensus grow by 6.5 points compared to last year and by more than 13% in 2023. The numbers also reward Francesco Acquaroli in the Marche: with a jump of 7.5% in 2024.
