Islam at school, Sardone (Lega): “The trash bag veil, let’s ban it here too”

"Often when we talk about the Islamic level in schools the word 'freedom' is mentioned. Freedom is a free and conscious choice. So when I see girls in nursery school or elementary school I wonder how the choice of the Islamic veil can be a free and conscious one by a 5 or 6 year old girl". This is what MEP and deputy secretary of the League Silvia Sardone said during the presentation of a resolution against the Islamization of schools.

Sardone adds: “The Islamic veil is a symbol of submission and therefore I am firmly against it and I would very much like it to be banned in Italy too".

"In my personal opinion - she continues -, for me all Islamic veils are symbols of submission. Because I don't think that a free woman, with the temperature we have these days, wants to go around with a garbage bag on".
