Manfredonia, La Torre responds to Galli: "Disabled cars? Fake news about parking in a no-parking zone; the car isn't mine."

A political backlash erupted in Manfredonia following a post by Forza Italia city councilor Ugo Galli , who denounced the occupation of a parking space reserved for disabled people by a city administrator. Councilor Matteo La Torre responded publicly, calling the incident "fake news about illegal parking."
"Yesterday morning, someone had the smart idea of turning a simple parking spot into an election campaign spy story, attributing to me—without even naming me—a behavior I don't recognize," La Torre wrote in a social media post. "It's a shame the car in question isn't mine."
The councilor, who holds several responsibilities in the administration led by Mayor Domenico La Marca , defined the attitudes of those who spread unfounded accusations as "incorrect and misleading," adding that "the protection of the rights of people with disabilities deserves serious consideration and not political exploitation."
"The protection of rights comes from facts, not from suggestive posts," La Torre continued. "Those who govern (or aspire to do so) should be well aware of this: concrete actions are needed, not fake news disguised as moralism."
Finally, a call for a different approach to politics: "Less suspicion, more scrutiny; less insinuation, more substance; less slogans, more respect. I will continue to do my part with responsibility and transparency. To those seeking visibility with unfounded accusations, I wish a successful election campaign... perhaps with a little more imagination and a little less invention."
