Pier Silvio Berlusconi ready for politics (but Marina holds him back). New Forza Italia and Tajani at the Quirinale. The plan.

It all revolves around the "I don't rule it out" statement made yesterday by Pier Silvio Berlusconi , Berlusconi's second son and head of Mediaset Mediaset Media Group. According to Affaritaliani.it , the temptation is very strong, even though his older sister, Marina, is reportedly trying to curb Pier Silvio's ambitions, worried about the future of the family business and less interested in a career in politics.

There's certainly a lot of talk about it within Forza Italia, and yesterday the deputy prime minister immediately commented, "I wish!", even though Silvio's son's role could clearly only be that of leader of the Forza Italia party and candidate for Prime Minister . It's clear—parliamentary sources explain—that, especially in the North, there's a certain discontent among the business class with the general economic trend and the tariff issue, which doesn't seem easily resolved.

Moreover, both Confindustria and Confagricoltura have raised the alarm, stating that even a 10% US tariff would be severely damaging to Italian industry as a whole. Then there's the issue of the North, which is no longer represented by the League, given its votes, and which, however, lacks any leading figures in the Brothers of Italy party. And so, from these considerations, Pier Silvio's plan to enter the fray, as his father did in 1994, to shift the center-right toward more moderate positions—certainly not with the Ius Scholae—and pro-Europeanism, seeking to sideline anti-European temptations and tendencies such as those of the Northern League and, in particular, its deputy secretary, Roberto Vannacci.

As is well known, Mediaset has major interests in Europe, especially in Germany, and so the goal is to have a government as close as possible to Brussels and one that doesn't bicker every month or so with French President Emmanuel Macron . Furthermore, a less inclined and more independent stance toward US President Donald Trump would certainly be welcomed by the Berlusconi family.

Sources at Transatlantico say that Forza Italia and Arcore conduct nearly a daily poll on the potential value of Pier Silvio's entry into the political arena. The plan is certainly to move beyond Forza Italia, or at least build a broader coalition of moderates and reformists that would also include the UDC, Noi Moderati, and perhaps Carlo Calenda 's Azione party, to try to gain ground and move closer to the Brothers of Italy. This would also be possible thanks to the firepower of Mediaset television.

Pier Silvio is seriously considering it in view of the 2027 general elections, his sister is holding back, and Tajani already has a prestigious institutional role lined up as President of the Chamber or the Senate and, why not, when the time comes, even President of the Republic.
