Hideo Kojima presents OD: Knock, the new horror project on Xbox

A disturbing trailer, candles hiding secrets and a sinister knock: Kojima reveals his new horror project at TGS 2025, developed in collaboration with Xbox and designed to scare like never before.
At Tokyo Game Show 2025, the visionary creator of Metal Gear and Death Stranding unveiled the first trailer for OD: Knock, an experience that promises unprecedented terror. The game, developed with the support of Microsoft and in Unreal Engine, brings to the screen actresses and actors of the caliber of Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier, intertwining film and video game in a language that only Kojima seems capable of orchestrating.
During the "Kojima Productions: Beyond the Strand" stream, the Japanese game designer revealed the first images of OD, subtitled Knock. It's no coincidence: the trailer is pervaded by the unsettling sound of an insistent knocking, which becomes a metaphor for fear itself. "My greatest fear is the knock, the sudden knocking. That's the terror I want to work on," Kojima explained on stage.
The video introduces Sophia Lillis, who is navigating a mysterious house where an ancient curse seems to have reawakened ten years after a traumatic event. Armed with a red card, the protagonist opens a secret door and finds an altar of candles, some of which are disturbingly reminiscent of the famous "children" from Death Stranding. The tension builds until a shadowy figure arrives and brutally grabs her, while a noise similar to a Geiger counter signals the crescendo.
On a technical level, OD marks the first collaboration between Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios. Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, called the project "something unique, bold, and deeply recognizable as Kojima-san's work." He also emphasized how Xbox's technical support was crucial not only for the visuals but also for the behind-the-scenes solutions. Plot details remain shrouded in mystery for now, but one thing is certain: Kojima isn't afraid to raise the bar. "It's a truly scary game," he warned with a smile. "It'll probably make you pee your pants."
