Arezzo, August 12, 2025 – Raffaele Ciurnelli of Tennis Giotto has won another international title. The young player's journey on the ITF (International Tennis Federation) circuit reached a new milestone with his participation in the Under-18 J100 tournament in the Belgian city of Maaseik, where, accompanied by coach Andrea Pecorella, he secured victory in the singles tournament. Ciurnelli enjoyed a highly competitive career, losing only one set in five matches against peers from across Europe, demonstrating technical solidity, mental fortitude, and competitive maturity.
In the singles tournament, the Tennis Giotto representative overcame the toughest obstacle in the quarterfinals in a particularly close and hard-fought match against Britain's Rhys Lawlor, which ended 7-5 in the third set. Lawlor secured a spot in the semifinals, defeating Czech Max Frohlich 6-3 and 6-1, and the subsequent final, which ended 6-2 and 6-2 against Frenchman Benoit Gendolf. He also enjoyed success in the doubles tournament, alongside Pietro Ricci of Massa Lombarda, with whom he had previously triumphed in a J100 tournament in Turkey in March. The Italian pair only lost to Jan and Max Frohlich in the final, with scores of 3-6 and 5-7. After earning a call-up to the Italian national team for the 2024 Under-16 European Championships, Ciurnelli has now reaffirmed his international standing and added a title to his list of achievements, a testament to the quality of the work he has done with the Giotto Tennis team's coaching staff.
